FRANCIS COUTELLIER ( Belgium , 1945 – )
He pursued his art studies at the Art School of Maredous, the National Superior School of Architecture and Visual Arts and the Visual Studies Workshop in Rochester , New York . He obtained a Master's Degree in Photography from the State University of New York, unde the direction of Robert Frank, Joan Lyons and Michael Snow. His further education was developed through numerous workshops: film workshop with Robert Frank (1983), workshop in bookbinding (1990), intaglio workshop with Pavel Skalnik (1991) and a Polaroid Transfer Image course in Toronto (1995).
Francis Coutellier has been a professor I the Fine Arts Department of the Universite de Moncton since 1969. He has exhibited his artwork in nearly 200 exhibitions throughout the world, including Canada , the United States , Hong Kong , Belgium , France and many other European countries. He has had more than 30 solo exhibitions of his work. He has since the early 1970s pushed the boundaries of the photographic medium, collaborated on numerous projects, produced eight books, produced many magazine and journal articles and has continued to influence a younger generation of artists through his teaching.
Coutellier has been a prolific artist, producing photography, painting, sculpture, prints, books and tapestry.
